Charles Lee Knotts, 65, of Clarksburg, passed away on Friday, June 24th 2011 at the United Hospital Center. He was born in Clarksburg, on December 1, 1945, son of the late Ersel B. and Winifred E. Flaherty Knotts. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Sue Cunningham Knotts, who passed away May 3rd 2007. Charles is survived by: his fiancée, Rita K. Scott; one daughter, Traci Hamrick and husband Rick, of Clarksburg; one son, Dennis D. Knotts and fiancé Stacy L. Beckner, of Fairmont; three grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Hamrick, Karrah Ann Knotts, and Abigail Grace Knotts; two brothers, Michael D. Flaherty and wife Karen, of Smithville, TN, and John T. Knotts and wife Mary Ellen, of Spelter; one sister, Helen R. Knotts, of Clarksburg, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Charles was preceded in death by: one brother, Patrick T. Knotts; and one sister, Sharon Elizabeth Clark. Charles graduated from Victory High School Class of 1965. He joined the Navy serving during the Vietnam War. He began his career with Ingersol Rand attended Salem International University, worked at General Machine, and has worked the last twenty eight years for American General Life and Accident. Charles served as a Trustee of the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery for twenty years. His memberships included: Nemesis Temple of the Shrine, Parkersburg, WV Central WV Shrine Club Mini Corvette Unit; Central West Virginia Shrine Club; 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason; Past Master of St. John’s Lodge #24 A.F.&A.M. of Shinnston, American Legion Post 31 in Shinnston, Disabled American Veterans, Clarksburg VFW Post 573, and Spelter VFD. He coached youth basketball and baseball for many years and was an avid WVU Mountaineer Fan.
