CHARLOTTE, NC – Charles “Larry” Breen passed away on February 11, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was 77 years old.
Larry was born in Charlotte on July, 22, 1937 to Lola Irvin Breen and Charles “Charlie” Augustus Breen. After graduating from O’Donahue Catholic High School, he served in the US Air Force. He then joined his father in business and owned and operated C.L. Breen Plumbing Company for forty years. He loved playing golf, World War II trivia, and attending sporting events. Larry was a member of First Baptist Church of Matthews, where he was formerly a deacon, volunteered with the youth group, organized golfing events, and coached the men’s softball team.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sonya Breen of Matthews; four children, Gary Breen and Woody Breen, both of Matthews, Kelly Breen Boyce and Kevin Breen, both of Charlotte; sisters, Greta Balls of Charlotte and Pattie Kirkpatrick of Lenoir; eight grandchildren and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.
