Charles K. McCollum

Charles K McCollum celebrated the end of his 92nd year here on this earth by passing away on September 16th, 2016 at his home in Roy, UT where he has lived for the past 17 years. He was born December 26, 1923 in Los Angeles, CA to William S and Lorena McCollum.

He graduated from Santa Maria (CA) high school, where he was the student body president. He promptly entered the Marines to fight in WWII. After the war, he joined the US Air Force serving as a pilot. As a pilot, he flew AT-6, B-25, C-54 and C-124 aircraft. He earned his Command Pilot wings. He also served as Launch Officer and Nuclear Weapons Officer and as Titan Missile Launch Officer at Cape Canaveral, FL. After his military retirement, he served as Civilian Chief Safety Officer for the Utah Test and Training Range at Hill Air Force Base.

He is survived by his children: Ginny McCollum Ryan of Paradise, CA, Ken McCollum of Farr West, UT, Craig McCollum of Hooper, UT and his step son Gary Stevens of Layton, UT, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
