After Suffering a stroke and dealing with many other maladies of the body, Charles Kenneth Woody of Poway passed away on April 7th, 2018 while in Hospice Care at the age of 87.
Charles, commonly known as “Woody”, was born on July 12th, 1930 in Murphy, NC to father Alton R. Woody and mother Katherine P. Woody. He grew up in Copley, OH with his brother Reid “June” Woody who predeceased him. Woody at the age of seventeen signed onto the United States Navy in 1948 where he became a Seabee.
Woody married Barbara DeBeaulieu in 1955. He raised his two daughters in Mississippi, New Foundland, Guam, and El Centro to name a few places. Woody was a very articulate man who had a very special way with words. He loved to travel. He enjoyed doing things to help others out.
He leaves behind two daughters, Rebecca Baxter and Linda Woody; his two grandchildren Trevor Baxter and Brittney Baxter; and his nephew Dennis Woody.
Thank you to all who cared for and about Woody. He was loved and he surely will be missed but never forgotten.
