Charles K. “Jumbo” Whetsel, 78, of Ingalls, passed away Monday, August 5, 2019 at his home surrounded by family. He was born September 10, 1940 in Anderson, IN to Russell and Ruth (Jarrett) Whetsel.

Jumbo was a U.S. Army veteran and worked at the Fortville Grain Elevator until it closed. He then retired from the Tractor Supply Warehouse in Pendleton. He most recently delivered newspapers for the Greenfield Daily Reporter having stopped just two weeks before his passing. Jumbo was a member of the Lapel American Legion Post 212. In his spare time, he enjoyed mowing and tinkering in his garage.

Jumbo is survived by his wife Phyllis (Thompson) Whetsel, whom he married March 15, 1969; son Russell (Courtney) Whetsel; grandchildren: Mark, Colin and Erica Whetsel, Trenten Livingston; sisters: Martha Wallace, Joan Ballard and Carolyn (Phillip) Rapp. He was preceded in death by his daughter Angela Whetsel, parents, sister Jean LeGault and brothers Neal and Richard Whetsel.
