Charles Lee Johnson, 93, of Moberly, died Sunday, January 3, 2016, at Moberly Nursing and Rehab.  Charles was born November 22, 1922, in Slater, MO, to William and Flora (Yates) Johnson.

He served in the U.S. Army; receiving an honorable discharge.  After coming home he did odd and end jobs.  He then worked for the Wabash and N&W Railroad for 36 and a half years.  He enjoyed working on bikes and lawn mowers, and for a short time he worked at One-Stop where he became lifelong friends with Mr. and Mrs. Ron Lingo and their family.

Charles was a member of the Highway Hoppers and traveled with them.  He could be a very crusty person, but he loved people and when he was able, he loved to camp and travel.  He had lots of pain, but he never complained and he hated to take pills.  He always said he had a hard life, but he had a long and enjoyable life, what more could he want.

Survivors include two daughters Cathie Smith and Teresa Peters of Ohio, a son Bobby Lee Johnson,  numerous grandchildren; nieces, nephews, a sister-in-law Lila Johnson of Pleasant Valley, MO, and other friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son William Johnson, a daughter Jo Kay Givens, two brothers, James and Lewis Johnson, and a sister Katherine Wilson.
