Charles John Smith, 68, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016. He was born in Lebanon, Kentucky on June 24, 1948 to Augustus Eugene Smith and Mary Jo (Tungate) Smith. Charles married Shirley Cowden, on May 21, 1999 in Franklin.
He was an equipment operator for Wheih Construction, in Noblesville. He enjoyed watching dirt track racing, NASCAR, and going to the casino.
Charles is survived by his loving spouse; Shirley (Cowden) Smith of Franklin, three children; Laura (Scott) Vaughn and Timothy Smith, all of Franklin, Mark (Linda) Smith of Morgantown, four step-children, a sister-in-law; Shirley Smith, of Trafalgar, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Augustus and Mary Jo Smith, and two brothers; Eugene Smith and Jerry Smith.
