Charles Jack Weston, July 19, 1931 – March 10, 2014.
Charles Jack Weston, 82 of Belton, formerly of Hereford, Texas, passed away at a local hospital on March 10, 2014. Jack was the younger of identical twins born on July 19, 1931 in rural Taylor county to Buck and Vera Weston. Jack and his twin brother were inseparable through life. Mack preceded him in death in February 2010. Born on a ranch, raised on a ranch, Jack was through and through a Texas rancher and cowboy. He knew cattle inside and out, but he loved quarter horses. He loved to rope – calf roping and team roping.
He roped until he was in his late 70’s. He also loved quarter horse racing. He traveled to many tracks with Mack watching those beautiful horses run. Sometime in early 1950, after he and his family moved to Fluvanna, Texas, he met a beautiful young woman named Delphene Hataway. It was almost love at first sight. Married on June 14, 1952, Jack and Delphene would have celebrated their 62nd anniversary this summer. During his life, Jack worked on some huge ranches and cattle operations in Texas and New Mexico. In 1976, he and Delphene moved to Hereford, Texas, where they started DJ Livestock Company. Jack and Delphene lived there until they moved to Belton in 2009. Jack was hesitant to move away from “cowboy country” but he loved being closer to his kids and grandkids.
He was an active member of the Couples 2 Class at Taylors Valley Baptist Church where he made some deep friendships. Jack is survived by his loving wife and partner, Delphene, his daughter and son in law, Debra and Tom Minzak of Belton, his son Chuck Weston of Dallas, his grandson and granddaughter in law, TK and Alyssa Minzak of Seattle, WA, his grandson and granddaughter in law, Scott and Janie Minzak of Belton, and his precious great grandchildren, Bekah Minzak and Weston Minzak of Belton. He is also survived by his sister, Billie Lightfoot of DeLeon, plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dorothy McCrum and his twin brother, Mack.
