Charles “Jack” Clevenger
Newark – Charles “Jack” Clevenger, 76 died peacefully Thursday, August 9, 2007 at his daughter home with his family by his side.
Family and friends may call Sunday (August 12) from 4 to 7 at the Norman L.
Jack was born the son of the late William and Jesse Mellott Clevenger on Sept. 2, 1930 in Emmaville, PA. He came to Newark in 1948 and worked at several places including the Newark Developmental Center retiring in 1986. Jack was a past member of the Newark Elks Lodge and the Marine Corps League.
Jack enjoyed fire arms, hunting, trapping and the great outdoors in general. He loved repairing antique clocks and showed great patience working on the small parts. However, his biggest joy was his 1946 2N Ford tractor.
Jack will be remembered by his devoted wife of 41 years, Edith Garland Clevenger; sons Scott (Debbie) of Sandy Creek, Jack and Brian Clevenger both of Newark; daughters Christina (Richard) Carr of Newark and Kim Vazquez of Newark; nine grandchildren and one great grandson; brothers Ivan of PA., Billy (Grace) of Lyons and Ray (Margie) Clevenger of N. Rose; sisters Mildred Powers of MD., Adrianne (Floyd) Palmer of PA., June (Jr.) Smith of Wolcott and Bonnie (Joe) Smith of Wolcott; many nieces and nephews; a special buddy John Baker.
Jack was predeceased by his brother Dale and sisters Pauline Carnell and Nancy Decker.
