Charles Irvin “Charlie” Gardner, 94, of Bloomington passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Aperion Nursing Home in Spencer. Charles was born July 12, 1926 in Hoopestan, Illinois and was the son of the late Jesse M. and Minne (Davis) Gardner.

Charles was an Army Veteran of World War II a member of Bethel Apostolic Church and was a self employed Concrete Finisher. He married Luella Jean (Martin) Gardner on May 10, 1947 and she preceded him in death in 2010.

Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly Elkins (Tim) and son, Kevin Gardner (Cheryl); 4 grandchildren, Lauren Gardner, Jarrod Elkins (Kyra), Brandon Elkins (Jessica)and Levi Elkins; 6 great grandchildren, Mason Elkins, Dillon Elkins, Riley Elkins, Hadley Elkins, Peyton Elkins, and Aydin Elkins; two sisters, Sue Parrish and Jane Chandler (Alan); brother, Don Gardner (Connie); sister-in-law Judy Gardner; and brother-in-law Jim Butler.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife Luella Jean Gardner, 2 sons, 2 daughters, granddaughter, Heather Gardner, sisters, Betty Butler and Sharon Nicholson, and brothers Robert “Bob” Gardner and Ted Gardner.
