Memories of a Good Man

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.
~ Psalm 37:23 ~

Charles Hickman was born on Tuesday, March 30, 1943, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was the youngest child born to His parents Eli Hickman and Ruth Thomas. He was educated in the St. Paul school system and graduated from Central High School in 1961. He enjoyed sports and played football. Shortly after graduating he joined the United States Marine Corps where he served for 6 years. After receiving an honorable discharged he moved to Colorado and was employed by Rocky Flats.

In 1968, he met the love of his life Joan Wright. After a short courtship (he didn’t waste time), they married November 22, 1969. She was the heartbeat of his life. They enjoyed life together for 50 years. They were truly “LIFE partners.”

No family is complete without children. Charles and Joan were blessed to three sons, Jermaine, Shane and Scott. He was a dad of precept and example. He loved his sons and raised them to be men of honor and respect. He always supported them in their sports and school activities. The family had many good times and laughter, and chapters of wonderful memories. Among some of the memories, the children recall his military style morning wake ups which they said was the most annoying thing ever.
