Charles Henry Shuping, 84, of Salisbury passed away Tuesday, January the 10th at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Charles was born April 3rd, 1938, to the late Henry Locke Shuping and Velna Young Shuping.

Charles was a graduate of Spencer High School in 1956, and earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Catawba College in 1960. His 40 year career was spent at Cannon Mills and Fieldcrest Cannon where he was a Chemist, Plant Manager, and Divisional Vice President.

He was a past Master of Andrew Jackson Masonic Lodge #576 and a District Deputy Grand Lecturer.

He was a lifetime member of Bethel Lutheran Church where he served on Church Council, Property Committee, Sunday school teacher, and was a member of the Lutheran Men in Mission. He was an avid outdoorsman, and master horseman.

He was the beloved husband of the late Georgia Holshouser Shuping for 62 years. His children include Renee Phillips (Randall) of Taylors, South Carolina, Shelia Lingle (Todd) of Salisbury, Dr. George B. Shuping (Wendy) of Mooresville, and Jennifer Ruppe (Josh) of Rutherfordton; sister Sandra Owen of Salisbury, and the late brothers, Dr. Ralph Shuping (Frances) of Salisbury, Dwight Shuping (Martha) of Salisbury, and Jimmy Shuping; grandchildren who he adored include Nick Cassidy, Madeline Polskin (Matthew) of Simpsonville, Anna and Allison Lingle of Salisbury, Lillian and Scarlett Shuping of Mooresville, Caroline and Lauren Ruppe of Rutherfordton; great granddaughter Braylyn Lingle of Salisbury and the expectant great-grandson Charles Polskin of Simpsonville.
