On June 21, 2022, in the presence of his family, Charles Henry Hood III passed away peacefully in Centennial, Colorado. Born on December 3, 1935 in Wahoo, Nebraska, Chuck was the only son of Minna (Urban) and Charles Hood II, former County Attorney of Saunders County.  Chuck’s father was killed in Italy during World War II, when Chuck was eight years old. Chuck remained in Wahoo and was raised by his mother and grandmother through his junior year at Wahoo High School.  During his senior year, Chuck spent time in Omaha with his Uncle John Hemmer and their loving family.  He graduated from North High School and went on to the University of Nebraska where he was a member of the Glee Club and Delta Upsilon fraternity.  Chuck graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 1958.  In the summer of 1960 Chuck moved to Colorado where he met Phyllis Jean Cordes.  Chuck was a member of the 140th Signal Battalion of the Colorado National Guard before being called to active duty at Fort Riley, Kansas.  Chuck and Phyllis were married in December of 1961.  Together, they raised two daughters, Sandy and Sheri, and instilled in their family a love for the lakes, rivers and long hiking trails of Colorado. Chuck spent most of his career with Ryder Truck Systems, retiring as the Director of Claims for the Western U.S. and Canada.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and by his grandson, Michael James Lyon.  He is survived by Phyllis, his wife of 60 years, his daughters Sandy (Tom) Lyon, and Sheri (Scott) Roswell, and by his grandsons Jeffrey Lyon, Jack Roswell, and Benjamin Roswell.
