Mr. Hammond was born on April 27, 1933, in Huntington, IN, to Paul D. and Mary Gephart Hammond. His parents preceded him in death.
Mr. Hammond married Deloris Brickley on November 26, 1953, in Huntington, IN.
She survives in Huntington, IN.
Mr. Hammond graduated from Huntington Catholic High School in 1951. He was the owner of Parcel Parts and he previously worked for Hunckler Products for 23 years. Mr. Hammond also served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Hammond was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Huntington, IN, and was also a member of the American Legion Post 85, Knights of Columbus, Industrial Management Club, Huntington Girls Softball League, and Meals on Wheels.
Along with his wife, Deloris, Mr. Hammond is survived by 8 daughters; Ann (Gary) Beck, Granger, IN; Catherine (Scott) Kovener, Crothersville, IN; Rhonda (Mark) Overholser, Huntington, IN; Carrie Bannister, Huntington, IN; Teresa (Mel) Fruit, Huntington, IN; Paula (Mike) Dillon, Fort Wayne, IN; Carla (Jody) Selvage, Huntington, IN; and Barbara (Rod) Osborne, Fort Wayne, IN. Mr. Hammond is also survived by one sister, Patricia A. (Bob) Fox, Huntington, IN; 14 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Hammond, and Paul E. Hammond; and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Westendorf.
