Charles H. “Chuck” Miller, 58, of Chapin, IL died Monday , July 28, 2008 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, IL.

He was born September 19, 1949 in Beardstown, IL; the son of Russell and Bernice McDaniel Miller. He married Mary Coats on December 8, 1967 in Jacksonville and she survives.

He is also survived by four sons, Charles S. Miller of Hillsboro, Jeremy “Jay” Miller (companion, Missy Dawdy) of Chapin, Jebediah ‘Jeb’ Miller of Chapin, and Joshoua “Josh” Miller of Jacksonville; nine grandchildren, Teri Miller (fiancé, Michael Brantley) of Winchester, Joey Miller, Justyn Miller, Gage Miller, Jozie Miller, J.J. Miller, Rainee Miller, Jaedyn Miller, and Aerabella Miller; two brothers, Bob Miller of Chapin and John Miller (companion, Sally Brown) of Chapin; two sisters, Judy Spradlin (deceased husband, Albert) of Jacksonville and Donna Hayes (husband, Ed) of Jacksonville; brothers and sisters in law, James and Georgianna Kitselman of Murrayville, Sharon Kennedy of Jacksonville, and Johnny Coats of Jacksonville; several nieces and nephews; and several special friends, Susie Haynes, Jennifer Howland, Doris Privia, Jenny Mullen, Dena Taber, and Jackie Weimer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step father, Jim Hennessey; four brothers, Russell, Raleigh, Spencer, and Frankie Miller; a sister, Helen DeGroot; his mother and father in law, John and Eileen Coats; and his beloved boxer and friend, Lee.

Mr. Miller worked as a truck driver for Hertzberg-New Method Book Bindery for 14 years and later was a machinist for Chapin Cylinder Head Company for 11 years. He most recently was employed with Brockhouse Sales and Service for several years until his retirement due to his health. He was a volunteer for Chapin Big Country Days and was a former member of the Chapin Jaycees. In the past, he devoted time to bowling, softball and hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and especially his NASCAR buddies: Jim Criss, Dennis Boehs, and Greg Morris. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
