Charles H. Albertson, 88, of Eureka passed away at 3:10pm Wednesday February 1, 2012 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.

He was born on November 23, 1923 in Birch Tree, MO the son of Charles and Clara Hood Albertson. He married Wilma Braun on July 31, 1949 in Perryville, MO.

Surviving is his wife of Eureka, five sons Charles (Linda) Albertson of Brighton, IL; Bob Albertson of St. Mary, Mo; Rick (Michelle) Albertson of Metamora, IL; Roger Albertson of Chillicothe, IL; Jim (Deb) Albertson of Low Point, IL; three daughters Shirley Taft of Eureka, IL; Diane Albertson of Cazenovia, IL and Darlene Albertson of Mountain Grove, MO.

Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren Allysia Rogles, Amanda Albertson, Bobbi Jean Schubert, Brandon Albertson, Charlie Albertson, Jessica Rocke, Josh Eckhardt, Justin Albertson, Kelsey Albertson, Kyle Albertson, Shawn Albertson, Stephanie Kurland, Stephen Taft, Travis Albertson. Also surviving are nine great grandchildren.

Further surviving is one sister Barbara Neal of Poplar Bluff, MO. Two sisters Jane Valleroy, and Betty Bucheit preceded him in death.

He was decorated WWII US Army Air Force veteran, serving during the invasion of Omaha Beach at Normandy. He then helped liberate Paris and fought throughout Europe until the end of WWII in 1945. He was honorably discharged in January of 1946.

He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 30 years. From 1982 until 1986 he worked at the Cold Water Club in St. Genevieve, MO. He worked from 1982 until 1986 at Cold Water Club in St. Genevieve, MO and then from 1987 until 1989 at Thousand Trails, then from 1989 until 1997 he worked at Robinson Construction in Perryville, MO working at all places as a grounds keeper.
