Charles Gerald Martin, Sr., age 83, of Red Lake, Minnesota entered the spirit world on Friday, April 17th, 2020 from the Sanford Hospital in Bemidji, MN surrounded by his family. He was born on April 7th, 1937 in Red Lake, MN, the son of Elizabeth Long and Sam Rainey.
Charles grew up in Red Lake and graduated from the Red Lake High School in 1954. After high school, he joined and spent three years in the United States Army. Charles met and married the love of his life Marian Ryan on December 27th, 1957 and together they raised six children, many grandchildren and several foster children.
Family that Charles is reunited with are his wife of 64 years, Marian Martin; daughters, Charlene Martin and Donna Prentice; parents, Sam and Elizabeth; sisters, Kathy, Barbara and Julia; brothers, Patrick and Larry; grandchildren, Jacob, Charlie and Jared; two great grandchildren, Travion and Jordyn; uncle, Kenneth Rainey, Sr. and his best friend, Tilford Hill.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, Charles (Faythe) Martin, Jr., Gerald (Wendy) Martin, William Martin, Myron (Mary) Martin and Shawn Martin all of Red Lake; daughter, Marilyn Feather of Red Lake; brothers, Bradley Long, Sr. and Ronald Long, Sr. both of Red Lake; 26 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and eight foster grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
