Charles Francis Fabio Jr. was born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 27, 1947 to parents Charles Francis, Sr. and Victoria Szedny Fabio. It was evident early on that Chip(Chipper), as he was nicknamed, had an uncanny ability to make people smile and a propensity to want to help and care for others. Undoubtedly, these qualities were instilled in him by his loving parents who were both civil servants; a father who was a career law enforcement professional and a mother who was a Registered Nurse for 35 years.
After a stellar high school career and several years studying at the University of Pittsburgh, duty called and he found himself serving our country in Vietnam as a member of the United States Army. Upon his return, he met the love of his life, Irene Amberg. Soon after they journeyed to Vail, CO where they lived for four years. Then it was off to Lakewood where a new life beckoned and the start of family awaited.
In retirement Chuck finally got the opportunity to pursue his passions with full-time zeal….. gardening, golf, t v and movies, food, music (The Dead), and, of course, the
grandchildren! He took such great pride in how beautiful his and Irene’s yard looked in round. Fox Hollow Gold Course was his “second home” a gorgeous setting that he enjoyed so much he went to work there as a Marshall. And the four couldn’t get enough of them. They brought such joy into his life and unquestionably he to theirs.
Chuck was kind, caring, generous, incisive and had a terrific sense of humor. He took great pride in staying connected with a multitude of people stretching far and wide that he had known throughout his life. He was diagnosed with an extremely rare blood cancer, myelofibrosis, in 2016 and although it had a somewhat debilitating effect on his overall health, he rarely allowed it to interrupt his daily routine.
Chuck is survived by his wife Irene; his children Jessica (Eric McGillivray) and Nicholas; grandchildren Gavan, Wyatt, Avery and Jaxon; brother Jonathan(Judy); and countless cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
