Charles Foster Manis, born May 29, 1943 passed away peacefully in his home this Wednesday evening after a very long, hard, 15 year battle with cancer. During those painful years, he was the type to never complain and always insisted that he was “doing just fine”… simply because that’s the kind of man he was. During the 1960’s thru 1980’s he was a Quality Control Chief for Lockheed Martin making jets and was sent to classes to study things such as trigonometry, engineering and management at schools as renowned as Princeton University. While managing for Lockheed Martin and Southern States Engineering, Charles was sent to live in many interesting places such as Montreal, Mexico City, and LA. After retiring from Lockheed, he worked as a security officer for Beaulieu of America. He was a lifelong lover of sports, golf, and animals. The true light of his life were his three nieces (as he had no children of his own). He is preceded in death by his mother (Kathleen Cochran), stepfather (Lloyd Cochran), grandparents (Lucy and George Babb). He is survived by his loving and devoted sister Linda Ingle (Jim Gilmore), niece Kelley Ingle Davis (Eddy Davis), niece Jade Dowiat, niece Kirby Raney (Lane Raney), and special cousin Teresa Stephens. He is also leaving behind many beloved aunts/uncles including Bob and Billie Babb, Anne and Harvey Casper, and multiple loving cousins.
