Charles “Chuck”, “Zeke” F. Ziemer, 73, beloved Father and Husband, passed on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Washington Christian Village in Washington, IL after battling kidney failure for 6 years.
He entered this world on March 17, 1943 in Peoria, IL, born to Clifford and Isabelle (Place) Ziemer.
He married Victoria Gilbert July, 1966, then later married Sandra Huffman February, 1994. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Ziemer; one daughter Gretchen (Neil Greenberg) Ziemer of Charleston, ME; one step-daughter Tracy (Chris) Spears of Washington, IL; one step-son Jerrad Huffman of Minneapolis, MN; 6 grandchildren Grayson, Camden, Thatcher, Cole, Blake and Kenley, along with two nieces and one nephew and his beloved dog, Savannah. His daughter Rachel, son Joel, sister Colleen Uban, and his parents preceded his death.
Charles served in the Navy on the USS Independence from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1966. Chuck was employed at Fleming-Potter Company for 41 years as a Cutter, retiring in 2005.
To his family & friends, Chuck was a kind man, who loved & laughed easily. He had fond memories of his Peoria Central high school friends. He was also a long-time fan of the Metamora, IL Red Birds football team, the Chicago Cubs & the Indianapolis Colts. His enjoyments in life were many including photography, Florida Beaches, but especially his children and grandchildren.
