The love of my life, Charles (Charlie) F. Holland, Jr., age 89, died on October 18, 2017, following a long struggle with failing health.

Charlie was born on June 26, 1928, in Lansing, Michigan, he was the son of the late Charles F. Holland, Sr. and Irene Greening Holland of Lansing, Michigan.

He graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

He was a veteran of the Air force reserves having served as a 2nd Lieutenant.

He served his internship at St. Benedict’s hospital in Ogden, Utah and practiced general medicine for 7 years in Oakridge OR.  He then went on to complete his residency at the University of Utah in Psychiatry and practiced for 23 years in Eugene, OR.

Charlie was an athlete and had a passion for the great outdoors.  He loved to snow ski, play tennis, windsurf, hike, rollerblade, fly fish, bicycle, camp and anything outdoors.  His family shared many treasured times participating in those activities.  His dry wit could send you rolling in laughter.  Charlie was a man of integrity, strength, compassion, honesty, a man of his word and had a loving passion for his family.  His absence in all of our lives leaves an insurmountable hole in all of our hearts.

Charlie was preceded in death by his mother, father and sister.

Charlie is survived by his spouse Bonnie Holland; three sons, Charles Holland III of Eugene OR; Jeffrey Holland of Sisters, OR; David Marshall (Anna Marie) of Las Vegas, NV; one daughter, Terry McGhehey (Steve) of Sisters, OR;  five grandchildren and one great grandson.

I was supposed to spend the rest of my life with you and then I realized… you spent the rest of your life with me.  I smile because I know you loved me till the day you went away.  And will keep loving me…till the day we’re together again.  I miss you my sweet husband and will carry you in my heart for eternity.
