WALLINGFORD – Charlie Uznanski, 92, beloved husband of Helen (Lietz) Uznanski, peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Charlie was born in Meriden, CT on August 6, 1919 son of the late Ludwig and Katarzyna (Kanownik) Uznanski. He graduated first in his class from Meriden Trade School as a Silversmith. He apprenticed as a toolmaker and later became a master toolmaker specializing in master molds for plastic bottles at Northeast Tool and Manufacturing. Some of his work included original designs for Pepsi, Prestone, and Avon. He had an extensive volunteer history, including Boy Scouts, Grange, Quinnipiac River Watershed Association, Community Lake Committee, Wallingford AARP, Masonic Healthcare Center, and Wallingford Land Trust where a trail at Orchard Glen was named in his honor. Charlie was an active Communicant of SS.
