Charles Edward Hines Taylor was born on November 28, 1934 in Wilmington North Caroline to Magnolia Marshall Hines and departed this life on July 30, 2021.  Charles spent his early years in Jamaica Queens New York where he developed an interest in music.

Along with playing drums whenever he could, Charles held a variety of jobs including chauffuer, security guard.  These, however, did not interfere with Charles forming and organizing bands.  He enlisted his wife to serve as band leader.  First they formed The Sagitarrians and later Charles Taylor and the Availables.   Mr. Taylor was not shy about discussing music and would hand business cards to anyone who take one.  This passion led to assignments at jazz clubs, senior and recreation centers and other events throughout the DMV.

Charles served as the primary caregiver of hi wife in her final years.  His stepdaughters, Cynthia, Debra, and Tracy Collins cared for Mr. Taylor since the passing of his wife.  Charles was particularly saddened by the passing of his grandson, Harry Collins, in 2020.

Charles is survived by two daughters, Madeline Clarke, New York and Barbara Davis,  New York.  9 grandchildren:   Charles Hines, Lakisha Clarke Rivera, Jason Clarke, Angeline Hines, Joseph Davis, Jerome Davis,  and Dominique Davis and 11 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by cousins Louise Mobley and Doris Mobley.   He was preceded in death by granddaughter Madeline Hines.
