Charles E. Phillips (Chuck), 91, of Greensburg, passed peacefully at his residence on July 20, 2022 surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Chuck was born March 1, 1931. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Anna (Klym) Phillips both of Austria; his devoted and caring wife Carole; and his seven siblings Joseph, Michael, George, Stephen, Harry Jr., Rose and Emma. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his son Taylor B. Phillips and wife Eve of Greensburg and daughter Deirdre K. Lucas and husband David of Greensburg  and four grandchildren, Lauren (and fiance David) of Greensburg, Charlie Phillips of Greensburg, Paige Settino (and Husband Mitch) of Denver and Parker Lucas of Hoboken.

Chuck was a graduate of Greensburg Salem High School where he was an outstanding athlete. His athletic skills served Chuck well wherein he was recruited and played football for Michigan State, Florida & the University of Tulsa. While enrolled at Tulsa he went on a blind date with a very beautiful young woman named Carole Breneman and immediately knew that he had met his future wife. After graduating, Chuck was drafted by the Eagles but chose instead to marry the love of his life Carole and to return to Greensburg to work with his brother-in-law in the furniture business. He spent 65 wonderful years as the owner of Interiors by Phillips (Phillips Furniture) where he was able to develop long and lasting friendships with all of his customers. Chuck’s strong work ethic was undeniably the foundation of his success.

In addition to spending time with his family and work, Chuck became one on the most accomplished amateur golfers in the state regularly playing with Mr. Arnold Palmer and Tommy Smith. Still to this day at Greensburg Country Club nobody questions that Chuck had the best short game they had ever seen. For many years he served on the board for the Greensburg Country Club where he will be truly missed on both the course and the Gin Table. Our family wishes to thank all of the friends of Chuck. They have all been so supportive of the family during these difficult times. We appreciated all of the great stories and memories. We all know what a great spouse, father, and Grandfather Chuck was; it was so nice to hear how great of a friend he was to so many.
