Mr. Charles Edward Gilbert was born on November 13, 1944 to the late L.C. (Dee Dee) Gilbert and the late Irene Coleman Gilbert-Scott.
He attended Willow Grove School in Bethel, Tennessee and Trinity High School in Athens, Alabama.
Charles was joined in Holy Matrimony to Gary L. Reynolds on September 25, 1962. He moved his family to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1963. Charles and Gary had been married for 58 years.
Charles was a loving provider for his family and loved ones. He was a faithful employee of Western Electric/AT&T for many years until his heath failed.
Charles loved working on cars, painting and he loved traveling to Pulaski, Tennessee.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, L.C. (Dee Dee) Gilbert; mother, Irene Coleman- Scott; stepfather, Jessie Scott; grandmother, Sarah Coleman; brother, Ozro Bridgeforth, Sr; sister, Teresa Scott; sons, Daryl Gilbert and Keith Gilbert.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Gary L. Gilbert; daughters, Stephanie Gilbert, Conniece Gilbert; sons, Curtis Gilbert, Stanley Gilbert, Greg Gilbert (Smokey); sister, Sherry Mays (Robert); brother, Shawn Scott; brothers-in-law, Mack J. Reynolds, Morris Reynolds, Benny Reynolds of Pulaski, Tennessee; two devoted grandsons, Daron Hickman and Little Keith Gilbert; twenty-five grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
