Charles Edward Cooper, age 75, of Winona, died at 12:00 noon Monday, August 29, 2016 at the Salem Regional Medical Center in Salem. He was born January 8, 1941 in Winona, Ohio, the son of the late Joseph Morgan and Grace (Scott) Cooper.
He worked at Hunt Valve for 32 years as a welder and retired in 2003. Charles was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and enjoyed model airplanes. He was a former volunteer fireman for Winona and was a medic for United Little Eagles football program for 16 years. He amazed us all by surviving 5 different cancers in the last 13 years.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Priscilla (Barnes) Cooper, whom he married May 24, 1959; a son, Shawn (Beth) Cooper of Oak Forest, Illinois; a daughter, Tonya (Roy) Tolley of Lisbon; a sister, Betty (Don) Kaiser of Amsterdam; a sister-in-law, Nola Cooper of Salem; five grandchildren, Hallie, Jacob, and Jesse Tolley, and Jenna and Brooke Cooper.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Leo Cooper.
