Charles “Bud” Carey, Jr., passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 19, 2021, in Fort Pierce, Florida at the age of 90.
Charles was born in Hartford, CT on May 30, 1930, to the late Charles Edward Carey, Sr., and Florence J. Crisley Carey. He attended HTFD Schools. Charles was a resident of East Hartford in 1956. He served in the U.S. Navy from March 1949 to May 1953, serving in the Korean War.
He married the love of his life on April 28, 1951, Marilyn “Jean” (Dunn) Carey, 66 wonderful years. After the Navy, he was hired by the U.S. Postal Service in 1953. Charles was promoted from Administrative Assistant to Postmaster in Hartford where he worked for several years. Finished career as Senior Systems Compliance Analyst (Auditor). Retired in 1988, after 36 years. He was an avid New York Yankees & Giants fan.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Eileen Carey and Geraldine Carey Guinan.
Charles is survived by his firstborn, Lynda S. Sangiovanni, and husband, Craig; son, C. Kevin Carey, and wife, Elizabeth; daughter, Lori A. Moseley, and husband, Tom, where he resided. His beloved grandchildren, Michelle Sangiovanni, Eric Carey, and his wife Amanda and Jonathan Carey. Great Grandchildren, Jase Carey and Ciarah Carey. His two best canine friends, Marshall and Maggie.
Charles was a member of Hartford Postal Employees Credit Union in 1959. Elected to Board of Directors in 1972. He was also a member of the National Association of Supervisors where he served as President Branch #5 in Hartford, CT.
