He was a member of the Joseph Herbert Post #222 American Legion in Clear Spring, MD; VFW Post #6241 of Mercersburg, PA; life member of the NRA; life member of the Western Maryland Sportsman’s Club; life member of the Greencastle Sportsman’s Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Betty Jane Sword; his parents; brother Melvin Sword; sister Beverly Sword; 1 nephew.
He is survived by his brother George Sword; nieces and one nephew.
