Charles Edward Smith, 68 of Cocoa Beach, passed away in his home Monday November 30, 2015. Charlie was born in Corona New York on July 8, 1947 where he grew up with his parents (Joseph and Viola) and 6 siblings (Rosemary, Iris, Dorothy, John, Joseph, Louie) He met his bride to be and love of his life in Flushing Queens New York at the age of 11. After earning a Bronze Medal of Valor and a Purple Heart while serving his country in the Vietnam War he returned to marry Kathleen (Taffy) Smith on Valentine’s Day in 1971. They had three children and moved their family to flourish in Florida. Charlie is survived by his wife Kathleen Smith, daughters Dawnmarie Smith and Jennifer Smith-Moore (Daniel Moore), son Thomas Smith (Janelle Toohey-Smith), grandson William Linder JR. (Mackenzie Linder), Brother John Smith and Sisters Dorothy Gaydos and Rosemary D’Amico. He worked all his days to provide a full and loving home for his family and any neighborhood child that needed extra love. Charlie’s great life’s work was his love for his family and his sweetheart.
