Charles E. Painter, 79, Middletown, died July 3, 2006 at St. Johns Health System, Anderson Indiana after an extended illiness. He was born November 27, 1926 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and resided in Middletown. He was a resident of Madison County for 64 years.
Charles retired in 1981 from Delco Remy Division of General Motors as a Superintendent with over 39 years of service. He graduated from Anderson High School and the General Motors Institute.
He served his country in the Army during World War II Charles was a member of Markleville United Methodist Church; Markleville Masonic Lodge #629 F. & A.M., Madison County Shrine Club and Middletown American Legion Post #216.
He is survived by his wife: Ruby Poole Painter; Sons: Thomas & wife Donna Painter and Steve & wife Linda Painter; Daughter: Cathy Painter Hilligoss; Grandchildren: Byron Painter, Kyle Painter, Stacy Painter, Kelly Mitchell, Thaylah Keffer, Amanda Strausser; Step-Grandchildren: Jessi Hollen & Ashley Sanders; Several Great Grandchildren; Special Great Grandchild: Brianne Painter; Nieces: Gail Don Shirley & Family; Karen Downham & Family; Nephew: Charles Moody & Family.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Thomas and Margaret Lucy Walker Painter; Sister: Vera Moody; Brother in-law Jim Moody.
