Those left to honor Charles’s memory are his wife, Lois of Baxter; 2 sons, Glenn (Bonnie) Jontz of Baxter and Charlie (Janine) Jontz of Urbandale, Iowa; his 2 daughters, Saundra (Jim) Jontz-Elliott of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and Glenna Jontz of Marshalltown; 6 grandchildren, Kellie (Jeff) Elliott-Kapparos of Marion, Iowa, Monica Elliott of Chicago, Illinois, Jeff (Chris) Jontz of Bondurant, Iowa, Jace (Kim) Jontz of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Tanner Jontz of Urbandale and Kelsi Jontz of Urbandale; his 5 great-grandchildren, Chloe and Aidan Kapparos and Brennan, Haley, and Hunter Jontz; 1 brother, Clyde Jontz of Eldora, Iowa and his 1 sister, Roberta Noe of Ankeny, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Letha (Wilcox) Jontz.
Charles graduated from Baxter High School in 1941. He was a lifelong farmer.
He served several years on the Baxter School Board, helped start a school for the mentally-challenged in Newton, was the membership chairman for the Farm Bureau, helped organize the Jasper County Cattlemans, and was a member of the Wittemberg Grange.
