Charles Everette Hughes, III, was born October 4, 1990 in Littleton, Colorado to Charles E. Hughes, Jr. and Linda (Bollman) Hughes, and passed away February 12, 2018 at age 27. He had a very close and loving relationship with his family, to include his cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. He was especially close to his sister Katie, they were the best of friends from day one. Charles was physically active all of his life. He was a swimmer/diver, black belt in Kempo Karate, frisbee golfer and avid bicyclist. He was a partner/owner in the family construction company – working side by side with his dad as they created beautiful things together. When he was 18, he borrowed a guitar from his dad, went into his bedroom and came out a year later as a virtuoso. He got encouragement and tips from a childhood friend and his dad on how to play. And then he just practiced everything until he got it how he wanted it. His favorite musicians were Led Zeppelin, Lera Lynn and Shawn James. He played downtown, at various clubs and for family and friends. He brought joy to everyone around him with crazy, goofy antics and with his sarcastic sense of humor. He drove all of us crazy with his fine debate skills, sometimes wrapping us up so tight we ended up agreeing with everything we had just argued against. And he was kind, so, so very kind. He learned this saying from his father as a teenager and adopted it to reflect his own opinion on life: “Everywhere you go, there you are”.
