Charles Ernie Collner, 85, of Jamestown Court in Mishawaka, IN, passed away at 3:25am Saturday, March 18, 2006 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend.
He was born on September 6, 1920 to the late Charles P. and Anna (Barcza) Collner in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. Along with his parents; one sister, Josephine Hack also preceded him in death.
Mr. Collner retired from the Bendix Corporation, where he worked as an Automotive Engineer, for 19 years. Following retirement, he was employed as an Auditor at the Morris Inn, University of Notre Dame. Charles was also an Usher Supervisor at the University of Notre Dame Football Stadium for 49 years and at the Joyce Center for 39 years.
On April 8, 1943, he married his high school sweetheart, Virginia M. Wroblewski at St. Marys Catholic Church in Moscow, ID. She survives.
Along with his wife Virginia, of 63 years; he is survived by his daughter, Lori S. Collner and son-in-law, Roy Lowenstein of Columbus, OH; four grandchildren, Dylan Collner; Jacob, Mira, and Simon Lowenstein, all of Columbus, OH; one sister, Lillian Frasier of South Bend, IN; and a special friend, Ervin Dombrowski of South Bend, IN.
Mr. Collner was a Navy Veteran of W.W. II.; enjoyed golfing, and loved Notre Dame. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who will be dearly missed.
