Charles E. Anders, age 79, of Rensselaer passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at the Rensselaer Care Center.
Charles was born in Quincy, Illinois on November 7, 1934, the son of John and Martha (McNeil) Anders. On December 11, 1954, in Quincy, Charles married Lauretta Owens and she survives.
Charles was the owner and operator of Anders Concrete & Walls since 1974. Construction of building walls and concrete finish work was a profession he truly enjoyed.
Charles had served as a reserve officer for both the Rensselaer City Police and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department. He enjoyed stock car racing and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Surviving with his loving wife of 59 years, Lauretta, is their son, Charles D. Anders of Rensselaer, his sister, Shirley Bevans and niece, Pat Cowan, both of Quincy, Ill., and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
