Charles Douglas Black, age 72, of Bluestone Road, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
He was born August 25, 1944, in Centerville, Indiana, a son of the late Ed Lee and Ada Knipp Black. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles Lee Black; a grandson, Jason Nathaniel Donathan; five brothers, Cletus Earl, Ed Junior, Hurshel, George Russell, and Harold Gene Black; and two sisters, Thelma Engle and Georgia Katherine Black.
His wife, Barbara Wallace Black, whom he married April 22, 1972, passed away October 19, 2014.
Charles is survived by three sons, John D. Donathan and Audrey of Frenchburg, Robert Matthew Black of Morehead, and Dallas Ray Daniel Black of Clay City; one daughter, Rebecca Lynn Black of Morehead; six grandchildren, William R. Donathan, Elizabeth A. Donathan, Shakayle Y. Raney, John-Luke Perry, Rita-Mae Samuels, and David Lee Donathan; and ten great grandchildren.
Other survivors include one brother, Ora Black of Richmond, Indiana; four sisters, Maxine Harris of Clarksville, Tennessee, Regina Wallace of Clearfield, Janice Minard of Mansfield, Ohio, and Leola Fields of Culver, Indiana; a host of nieces and nephews; other extended family; and friends.
He was a former logger, farmer, and had worked for numerous companies in Rowan and surrounding counties.
