Charles was a retired coal miner and retired from the O’Fallon Township High School as head of maintenance after 22 years. He was a member of O’Fallon United Methodist Church, O’Fallon Masonic Lodge #576 AF & AM, Order of the Eastern Star #487, O’Fallon Senior Citizens, O’Fallon Township High School Has Been’s and a former member of the O’Fallon Township Area Democratic Club. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; Charles M. & Mabel Distler (nee Parker), a son; Charles J. Distler, 4 brothers; Clarence, Glenn, Raymond & Russell Distler and a sister; Florence L. Waters.
He is survived by his wife; Helen J. Distler (nee Brannon), a daughter; JoAnn & John Cook of Dade City, FL, a son; Michael & Lisa Distler of O’Fallon, IL, a brother; Donald & Alice Distler of O’Fallon, IL, a sister; Nellie & Dean Gass of Shiloh, IL, 6 grandchildren; Daryl Distler, Michelle Garicia, Scott & Jennifer Cook, Heather Cook, Andrea & Shawn Darr, Melissa Distler, 8 great grand children; Zackary, Dayne & Jake Garicia & Jaden Distler-Darr, Ivy Darr, Samuel Distler, Chaz Distler, Melissa Distler
