Charles D. Lindesmith Jr., age 58, of Salem, died at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016 at his home. He was born January 4, 1958 in Salem, Ohio, the son of Laura (Dudley) Lindesmith and the late Charles D. Lindesmith Sr.

He was a 1976 graduate of United Local High School. He started his career at Hull’s Super Duper as a meat cutter and worked at various groceries stores throughout the years. Chuck started playing the drums in grade school as a little boy and boy could he drum. Those of us, who knew or heard him, have watch and listened in amazement. He could make his drumsticks dance, twirl, and fly high. He loved to play country, jazz, and rock. But his passion was Big Band Music, he enjoyed Gene Krupa, and Buddy Rich, he studied their techniques and could play with the best. When he played he put on a show and it was a commanding performance. Along with drumming he loved to fly a Piper Cherokee 140. He got a pilot license at Tri City Airport. So whether he was flying high or building airplanes, he could do it all. Throughout his life he did what he wanted to do and it was always the best of his ability. Chuck was known for saying anything at anytime to make you laugh. He necessary didn’t try, it just came natural.

He was a good son to his mother, a wonderful brother to his sister, a comical uncle to his niece and nephew, and a wonderful friend to everyone that knew him. We will think of him often.

Survivors include a sister, Cindy (Denny) Heaver of Columbiana; a niece, Ashley Ketchum of Columbiana; and a nephew, Jeff Ketchum of Columbiana; and a great niece, Annabelle Dougherty.

He was preceded in death by a half sister, Gloria J. Lindesmith Haught.
