Charles E. Williams, 65, of Chariton, IA passed away on Saturday, January 17th, 2015 of lung cancer at the Legacy Lodge Circle of Life Hospice in Chariton surrounded by family and friends. Charles was born in Iowa City, IA on May 2, 1949 to Dewey and Dalorsia Williams. He graduated from Chariton High School in 1967.
He started working for the Burlington Railroad and Johnson Machine Works before beginning his career with the Iowa Department of Transportation and retiring after 41 years in 2010.Chuck married Linda Paige (Celander) in 1968 and to this union, had a child, Robin Williams. In 1975, Chuck remarried to Barbara Chaplin, and to that union was born Laurie and Jennifer Williams.
Chuck had many hobbies, including gardening, betting on sports games, and gun collecting. After retirement, he also enjoyed selling his vegetables at the local farmers market. His favorite thing to do was for him and Barb to travel to Las Vegas and see their favorite entertainer, “Big Elvis”.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 39 years, Barbara Williams of Chariton, three children: Robin Williams of Ankeny, Laurie Williams of Carlisle, and Jen Williams of West Des Moines, 4 grandchildren: Derek Williams, Dylan Hill, Devon Hill and McKenna Andersen, sister Helen Terrell, brother Jim/Willie, (Anita)Williams, neice: Kim (Toby) Dhabolt and Lori (Brian) Millard, nephews: Jimmy(Shari) Terrell, Leroy (Suzie) Terrell, Scott Williams.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Dewey and Dalorsia Williams: infant sister Diana Williams, sister Virginia Strebin, nephew Walter Terrell, niece Starlet Corbett.
Chuck’s big and fun loving personality will be missed by many family and friends.
