Charles “Chuck” H. Clinard, 74, of Kalamazoo, went home peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, while surrounded by family.

He was born in Paw Paw, Michigan to Charles and Helen Clinard on March 20, 1946. He graduated from Portage High School in 1964 and Western Michigan University in 1969. On August 17, 1968 he was united in marriage to Donna Greene.

Chuck is survived by Donna, his wife of 52 years, sons David (Becky) Clinard, and Brian (Lesley) Clinard. “Papa Chuck” is also survived by four grandchildren; Brendan, Xavier, Finn, and Piper. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Chuck was a family man, very involved, and always a listener. He was proud of his two sons and their accomplishments, especially seeing them become fathers themselves. He loved his grandchildren dearly. He was an active man who loved sports, traveling, and playing cards.

Chuck was a founding member of the Kalamazoo Soccer Club, coaching his sons’ soccer teams and later officiating many youth soccer games. Golf was Chuck’s passion. He served on the Kalamazoo Municipal Golf Association board for many years, concluding his service as president. He was especially interested in the development of young golfers.

Chuck had season tickets to the K-Wings for over 20 years and was a frequent visitor at Kalamazoo Growlers games and the Kalamazoo Speedway. Photography was his other hobby. He loved taking pictures, which came in handy during the many trips Chuck and Donna took together. The highlight of their travel was their 50th anniversary trip to Alaska, where in Denali they were fortunate to witness a double rainbow. This past year Chuck became a “foodie” of sorts who had Kalamazoo Menu offerings down to a science.
