Charles Bradford “Chuck” Fowler, Sr., of St. Johns, died on October 30, 2023. He was 77 years old.Chuck was born on August 4, 1946, in Lansing, Michigan, the youngest of six children born to Floyd and Evelyn “Corinne” Fowler. Following graduation from East Lansing High School, he worked for a time before enlisting with the United States Army. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam era and was stationed in Germany, and spent some time on the ground in the Vietnam arena. Upon his return, he worked for Sears, Roebuck and Co. for over thirty years in automotive sales and management.It was at Sears where Chuck met Donna Bellgowan, and they enjoyed over twenty-five years together, making their home in St. Johns. A fervent supporter of the Michigan State University Marching Band, of which his son was a member of, Chuck found joy and solace in the rhythm of the marching band, which was his favorite music. Chuck was immensely proud of his children and their accomplishments. His love extended to the outdoors, particularly bodies of water. He enjoyed teaching his kids to fish, trips to Big Star Lake with his parents, and he took meticulous care of his pool. He was handy around the house and enjoyed remodeling and construction projects. Pets were his babies, and he enjoyed their companionship. Chuck will be remembered for his unique charm, his fantastic sense of humor and his outgoing, gregarious nature.He is survived by his longtime partner, Donna Bellgowan; his daughter, Kimberly (Stacey) Ockert; his son, Charles Bradford “Brad” (Beth) Fowler Jr.; grandson, Rawson Bradford Novak; step-grandchildren, Darcie and Alyssa Ockert; brother, Bob Fowler and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Corinne Fowler; his sisters, Phyllis (Dr. Sam) Rutledge, Norinne McMullen, Patricia (Stan) Levandowski and brother Floyd Fowler, Jr.A special thank you is extended to the nursing and staff, especially Dakota, Amber, Amanda, Ashley Elizabeth at Fresenius Kidney Care in St. John’s for their love, support and care for Chuck over the last five years.
