Charles W Chester was born on January 7, 1933 to Merle and Oneta Johnson Chester near Russell Iowa. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on April 17,2010.

Charlie lived in the Russell area most of his life. He went to school and graduated from Russell in 1952. in 1954 he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Holmes. To this union three children were born, Ritchie, Bruce and Starla. In 1988 Charlie married his second wife Joann.

Charlie worked hard all of his life, starting in 1954 to 1956, when he served his country as an aviation mechanic. Charlie and his father Merle owned and operated the Russell Produce and Creamery for many years. Charlie also owned and worked at the Mobile 1 gas station in Russell for a number of years. He also worked fro Morton Builders, and retired from the Chariton water department after 17 years in 1998. Charlie enjoyed a full and active life.

Charlie was preceded in death by his father Merle, and mother Oneta. He is survived by his wife Joann, a brother; Dean Chester and wife Ali of Mystic, an aunt; Ruth Brown of Tulsa Oklahoma, daughter; Starla Atwell and boyfriend Kelly Carol, a son; Bruce and wife Kathleen of Chariton and other son; Ritchie and wife Jacquie of Chariton, daughters; Missy Goodwin of Chariton and Teresa and husband Paul Greene also of Chariton. Grandchildren include Sunny Atwell, wife Bonny and their children Krista, Loyton and Landon; Cassidy Atwell and wife Missy; Fawn Atwell and her daughter Skyler; Tanner Chester and wife Michelle, their children Kelsey and Michael; Jordan Chester and his son Jace; Tiffany and her husband Jacob Johnston and their son Peter; James Chester; Yvette Chester; Casey Foster, Nikki Goodwin, Eric Goodwin, Corey Waldner, and Daniel Greene. Other survivors include a number of nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. Charlie will be greatly missed by all who knew him and will be remembered with love and laughter.
