Charles Carmine “Chuck” Panella passed away on September 30, 2016. Chuck is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth (nee Versace); his loving children and their spouses; Charles J. and Jean Panella and Terrence M. and Andrea McGowan. Also surviving is his dear granddaughter, Gabriella Rose McGowan, sister, Mary Lou D’Antonio and her husband, Nicholas, brother-in-law Domenic Versace, and many nieces and nephews.
Chuck began his career as a teacher and coach at Millville High School. He retired as a teacher and coach from Elmwood Park Memorial Middle and High School.
In his many years as a teacher and coach, Chuck dedicated his life to making the lives of his students and players better in every way. As a teacher, he made sure his kids stayed on track. His former students have called him “the best” and “one of my favorites.” His students have said “he really cared”, when my dad passed, he was there for me”, “he was a kind man who showed his students respect”, he taught us a lot about life and living”, he made going to school something to look forward to”.
Chuck was a man who loved life, who always put the other person first.
