Charles C. Dunmire, 78, Anderson, died May 29, 2005 at Ball Memorial Hospital-Muncie after a sudden illness.
He was born March 24, 1927 in Rossiter, Pennsylvania, and was an Anderson resident since 1947.
He started as a Fireman on the steam engines and earned the title of Locomotive Railroad Engineer working for New York Central, Penn Central and Conrail, retiring in 1989 after 37 years of service. He served his country in the US Army during WWII.
He was a member of the American Legion #127, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and a member of American Bowling Congress. After retirement, he enjoyed bowling, volunteeringwith Gateway Handicap Bowlers, woodworking and traveling.
He is survived by his wife whom he married September 22, 1946 in Rossiter, Pennsylvania, Ruth Olsen Dunmire; son, Gerald E. & wife Linda Dunmire of Anderson; daughter, Christine & husband James Caddell of Frankfort; three brothers, Dr. Edwin & wife Janet Dunmire of Leesburg, Florida, Arnold & wife Oma Dunmire of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania and Howard Dunmire of North Canton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Rachel & husband Chris Ossenbeck, Kevin & wife Beth Dunmire, Andrew Caddell and Heather Caddell; two great-grandchildren, Megan Ossenbeck and Alexander Ossenbeck; several nieces and nephews and special neighbors, Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Riley and Mr. & Mrs. Gene Kersey.
He was preceded by his parents, Carlton C. & Laura Roush Dunmire.
