Charles ”Arkie” Schmitt, 70, Anderson, died May 29, 2003 at St. Johns Health System, Anderson Indiana after an extended illness. He was born December 14, 1932 in Caraway, Arkansas, and resided in Anderson, Indiana. He lived in this area since 1950. He retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors in 1987. He enjoyed fishing and was a big NASCAR fan. He is survived by his wife whom he married June 20, 1953, Betty Schaefer Schmitt. Two Daughters: Kathy & husband Alan Runyan of Anderson. Dawn & husband Ed Hubble of Pendleton. Three Sisters: Doris Watson of Phoenix, Arizona. Marietta Reams of Bernie, Missouri. Omega Reid of Charleston, Illinois. Six Grandchildren: Troy Harmon, Megan Runyan, Jay Hubble, Jamie Hubble, Kelsey Hubble and Tyler Hubble. One Great Grandchild: Amber Harmon. Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded by his Parents: John & Celia Harlan Schmitt. Great Grandson: Wesley Weaver Harmon. Two Brothers and Two Sisters.
