Charles (Charlie) Andrew Huffman passed away on 3 July 2023. He was an amazing husband, father, friend, mentor and boss. His huge heart cared for all. He was both a humble and proud man. He was a strong, protective, loving man who was always there for his family, friends and co-workers. He made positive, lasting impacts on anyone who became part of his life.
Charlie was born in Corona, CA on 11 June 1957. His mother, Shirley Ann and grandmother Vera were both nurses. His father, Ray, was a career Marine. Charlie joined the Air Force in 1974 when he was 17 and served faithfully for over 24 years before he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1999. As a logistics specialist, he proudly served in many locations throughout the world to include tours in Korea, Somalia, and Guam. He retired from the Air Force in 1999 and worked as a contractor for TAS before joining civil service at Holloman AFB, NM in 2000 as the Installation’s Deployment Manager. His last assignment was Deputy of Operations, 377 Logistics Squadron at Kirtland AFB, NM.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Charlie loved to fish, hunt, play pinochle, Ford trucks, off-roading, cruises and share funny and enlightening experiences; he loved his life. He was the New Mexico military skeet champion in 1998. He received numerous military and civilian awards to recently include Logistics Civilian of the Year.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Lee, amazing daughter, Jenn of Austin TX; sniper son, Chuck of Anniston, AL, three grandchildren, brothers Martin and Frank; sister Myrna, and numerous nieces and nephews.
