Charles Allen(Squeeg) Strycharz my loving husband passed away May 20th, 2013 after a life long struggle with Cystic Fibrosis.
Charley was born in Minneapolis, MN and relocated to New Symrna Beach in 1969. Having grown up on beachside he was an avid surfer, skateboarder and unicyclist. He graduated NSBHS in 1980 and became a Gator at UF and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. His first real job in engineering was at Kennedy Space Center 3 weeks before the Columbia accident and was layed off shortly after. When the Kennedy Space Center Started Launching again he returned to work for them in 1986.
He spent 23 years in the Aerospace industry and was so proud to be a part of the launch team. Charley lived every day to it’s fullest. Those of you whom know him, know how his name is written all over the City of New Smyrna Beach. He had a thing for freshly poured cement. I don’t think he ever wanted to be forgotten. He was an avid turkey hunter, surfer, motorcyclist, and loved concerts. He spent his last hunting season trying to set a record. He did, 5 birds in one season, two of which were record birds. He was a friend to all, a loving husband, son, brother, uncle and loved his grandchildren.
He was the loving husband of Pamela J. Strycharz of Edgewater. He was the son of Ted and Geri Strycharz of NSB. The brother of Julie and Tommy Ramsey, Tony Strycharz and Dawn & Denny Frey. He was the uncle of Ashley & Lola Ramsey, and Heidi Frey. He was the stepfather of Rebecca Thompson, Davie Greger and Brandon West and the grandfather of Cheyenne, Dakota, Savanna Thompson, Lexie and Isabel Greger, and Brandon West.
