Charles Allen Sautbine, “Charlie” age 81, of Walker, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday morning, November 5, 2014.  He was born on July 7, 1933 in Browerville, MN the son of Marshall and Alice (Buhl) Sautbine.

Charlie grew up around the Walker area and attended Walker High School.  Following school, he traveled to Alaska where he worked for a year before coming back to Minnesota.   He was employed with the Hansord Pontiac dealership in Minneapolis for 12 years and then he returned home in 1961.  Charlie walked into the local café and met the love of his life, Helen Greer.  The two were united in marriage in 1963, made their home in Walker and just recently celebrated their 51st anniversary.  He took on the position of Public Works Supervisor for the city of Walker where he would fix everything put in front of him.  One of his greatest joys was the comradery he gained from being on the Walker Fire Department and being the fire chief.

As everyone knows, Charlie enjoyed working on cars.  He also dabbled in making specialty knives.  He liked to hunt, ice fish and was most notable for his Eel Pout Punch.  He loved spending time with his family and being with his friends.  When his grandchildren arrived it was pretty obvious his true passion was to spoil them.  Any time that Helen would have a spare dollar, Charlie would give it over to the grand kids.

Charlie will be joining his family who went on before him who include his parents; Marshall and Alice, brothers; Richard, Ronnie and Melvin.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory and his love for life include his bride of 51 years; Helen, daughters; Lorinda and her husband Tony Ramirez of Hackensack, Lisa and her husband Daniel Gardner of Walker, brothers; Butch and his wife Holli Sautbine of Walker, Tommy and his wife LaRae Sautbine of Walker, sisters; Darlene Erickson of St. Paul, Phyllis Chalich of Walker, Diane Lang of Walker, Mary and her husband Jerry Mohs of Walker, three grandchildren; Dylan, Shelby, Brittney, many nieces and nephews.  He will be truly missed by all his family, friends and the entire Walker community.
