Charles Avery Gillespie, Jr., age 68, of Salem, Ohio, died at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the Salem Community Hospital. He was born December 23, 1943 in Washington, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Charles A. Gillespie, Sr. and the late Ada Mae (Watson) Gillespie. Before his retirement in 2007, he had been employed at Quaker Manufacturing as a machinist for 9 years and previously worked at the Eljer Company as a foundry worker for 15 years. He was a member of Faith Chapel Fellowship and accepted Christ into his life on August 26, 2012. Chuck loved fishing, bicycling and was an avid Steeler’s fan. He loved his family and his two dogs, Sheba and Buddy. His wife, Louise (Snee) Gillespie, whom he married August 10, 1963, survives him along with two daughters, Tammy Godwin of Salem and Sandy Stalnaker of Salem; six grandchildren, Brian, Heather and Kimberly Godwin, Jennifer Mann, and Lauren and Joshua Stalnaker; and five great-grandchildren, Brandon and Benjamin Godwin, Logan and Ari Upole and Grace Gardner. A great-grandson, Cash Gardner also preceded him in death.
