Charles A. Beatty, 87, died March 24 in Parkville. He was born Nov. 28, 1923, in Jessup, to the late Joseph and Mary Beatty, and retired from the B&A Railroad in 1983 after 42 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Staff Sergeant, and received two Purple Hearts serving in the Pacific.
