Charlene R. West, 87, passed away October 22, 2013 in Canon City, CO. She was born March 8, 1926 in Denver, CO to Earl and Lelia (Jackson) Herrin. After her marriage to George A. West in August, 1945 in Raton, NM, they moved to Guffey, CO. Charlene managed a resort in Estes Park, was the bookkeeper for the family construction business, a school bus driver and postmaster at Guffey for 27 years. After living in Guffey for 45 years, Charlene moved to Canon City in 1990. She belonged to the Canon City Elkettes, and was the president of her homeowners association. She enjoyed sewing and line dancing. Ms. West is survived by her daughter, Sheryl (Paul) Sandefur of Canon City; granddaughters, Christina (Tony) D’Agostino and their children, Peter and Arabella all of Eagle, CO, and Sarah (Chris) Field and their son Llewellyn all of Mount Sterling, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1978; son George G. West in 1980; and brother, Leroy Herrin.
